The quirky event — a celebration of the world-famous Stilton cheese — saw teams of four, in colourful costumes to go with this year’s theme of International Dance, roll a wheel of cheese down the Main Street.

The Stilton Sombreros and the Yorkshire Belles emerged as the men’s and ladies’ Stilton Cheese Rolling Champions.

Stilton cheese is famous for its characteristic strong smell. The well-known blue variety has distinctive blue veins.
