SEVERAL PROGRAMMES were organised in various schools and colleges of the City here today to mark the centenary of Vande Mataram.
St Joseph’s Co-ed School: Minister of State for Revenue Kamal Patel was the chief guest of the function. Students, staff members and guests sang the national song on the occasion.
Thereafter, students presented a cultural programme. In his address, Patel said that all Indians should sing Vande Mataram.
“Being Indians, we are proud to sing the national song. Singing Vande Mataram instills national pride and patriotic feeling in children,” he said.
School principal Fr Maria Stephen, manager Fr Abraham, headmistress Sr Mercy and head coordinator Sr Julie graced the proceedings.
Government Subhash Higher Secondary School: Chief Guest and Finance Minister Raghavji released a travelogue, Andman Mein Char Din, written by R G Shrivastava here today.
School principal Rajesh Tiwari and others attended the function. Sagar Institute of Research and Technology (SIRT): The Institute organised a synchronised singing of Vande Mataram. The Institute played a recorded version of the song on its audio network.
Sheel Public School: Students and staff members sang the national song on the school premises. M S Tomar was the chief guest. A competition was organised to mark the day.

MVM College: Institution principal Dr Dolly Malhotra along with students and staff members sang Vande Mataram today. Student Council in-charge Dr Sabhakant Dwivedi highlighted its importance to the gathering.
Barkatullah University: BU Vice-Chancellor Prof R S Sirohi sang Vande Mataram on the university premises here today. Other staff members also took part in the singing.
