IN ORDER to make people aware about different techniques to save themselves during emergencies, the district administration will organise a weeklong programme from December 1 to 6 in Varanasi to mark Civil Defence and Home Guards’ Day.

Talking to media persons here on Thursday, ADM (City) Indra Vikram Singh said that a flag hoisting ceremony and ‘route march’ would be held on Civil Defence and Home Guards’ Day on December 6 wherein NCC cadets, volunteers of civil defence and jawans of homeguards will participate. This march will be flagged off by District Magistrate Rajiv Agrawal,” he said.
Prior to this, several programmes will be held at different places in the city. “A competition based on fire extinguishing and primary health treatment will be held at Central Hindu Boys’ School on December 1 while a seminar on disaster management will be held at Prarakar Bhawan on December 2,” Singh informed.
Besides demonstrations on how to escape an air strike will be held at Mahatama Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth (MGKV) on December 4 in which group captain SV Ghosewade of Air Force Selection Board (Varanasi) will be chief guest whereas Vice-Chancellor of MGKV, Prof SS Kushwaha will preside. Besides a plantation programme will be organized at Cultural Complex in Chaukaghat area on December 5. The programme will culminate with the ‘route march’ on December 6.
