According to the trainees, most of the teachers of the institute were engaged in the Panchayat elections and they did not get time to complete the course within the scheduled timeframe. For about three months, the teaching at the institute remained suspended and the trainees had to sit idly either at home or at the institute. They were not allowed to work in the laboratories.

Besides, seven vacancies against the permanent posts including the post of the director were lying vacant for the past several years. The government failed to fill these vacancies to facilitate the teaching schedule at the institute. Above all, the acute fund crunch has badly hit the training programme. Against Rs 9 lakh, the institute got only Rs 7 lakh grant for carrying out training expenditure.

Recently, the government has allowed introducing several new courses in the polytechnic curriculum but the funds for implementing them were not released till date.
