He told mediapersons that some big names of the Hindi film industry were turning towards Bhojpuri cinema.

Son of Anjan, the famous lyricist of yesteryears, Sameer said he had already produced a Bhojpuri movie titled ‘Ganga Jaisan Pawan Piritiya Hamar’ and wished to produce some more Bhojpuri films.

Sameer completed his Masters in Commerce from BHU in 1980. A native of Varanasi, he said reality shows, such as ‘Indian Idol’, were a noble effort to provide a platform to young talent. He hoped that reality shows would also be organised for budding lyricists in future.

The ‘Aashiqui’ fame lyricist said society should welcome changes in technical and creative aspects of films in a positive manner. Earlier, the Censor Board raised a hue and cry over approving kissing scenes in films while much more than a kiss was being passed by the Board these days.

He further said his father’s lyrics inspired him to achieve success in Bollywood.

He said he would extend all possible support to promote budding artistes of Varanasi.
