A big no by young Delhiites, while the richie rich say ‘why not’?

A limousine at your doorstep for pick-up, free flowing drinks, a chance to rub shoulders with Bollywood stars and share the dance floor with cricketers — all these with your club-lounge IPL ticket costing a neat Rs 40,000. But are Delhiites game for such a lavish proposition? As Delhi gets set to host its first IPL game of the season today, HT City asked Dilliwallahs if they’d spend that much on a ticket.

Now that’s a party “I think watching match in that VVIP box is a fabulous idea. [From now on] I’d prefer watching it from there,” says socialite Ammu Saidi. “IPL is all about having fun and partying,” adds entrepreneur Shabnam Singhal. “The money will be worth it as you get to mingle with celebrities.”

The more affording swish set are on the other spectrum, when it comes to those youngsters who want to paint their faces red and hold up posters of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar. “I would never buy such a costly ticket. You’ll have to act all suave with the VIPs around, which is just not what we are here [stadium] for,” says DU student Sujay Deb. Software engineer Aditya Sikri is dismissive of the idea: “Why waste so much money when you can get tickets for Rs 600.”
