A BCCI official said that a decision on their teammate Ajit Chandila will be taken later.

Just hours after the report of BCCI’s anti-corruption unit chief Ravi Sawani was leaked to the media, Sreesanth and Chavan deposed before the cricket body’s disciplinary committee in New Delhi.

“They haven’t said anything about the ban. I have full faith in the judiciary as well as the BCCI, and I will come clean in this whole issue,” Sreesanth said after appearing for the hearing.

But his fate was sealed an hour later with the BCCI’s press release confirming a life ban. “S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan are banned for life from playing any representative cricket, or in any way being associated with the BCCI or its affiliates,” the statement said.

Amit Singh, a former RR player, was handed a five-year ban while another cricketer from the same franchise, Siddharth Trivedi, got a one-year suspension. Young spinner Harmeet Singh was let off for lack of evidence.
