POLICE ON Sunday arrested a gang of five persons selling question papers of CPMT and recovered cash and documents from their possession along with the question papers.
However, following cross checking of the question papers, it was revealed that none of the questions tallied with the ones asked in the test.
Despite all this the racketeers managed to collect cash from several aspirants. Police also recovered a cheque worth Rs six lakh from their possession. Efforts were being made to find out the person who issued the cheque. An SOG police team working under DIG range Akhilesh Mehrotra busted this racket following the arrest of Daya Shankar Singh, Anil Yadav and Anurag Raman Rai (all residents of Ghazipur), Sitesh Kumar Jaiswal of Bihar and Santosh of Chunar.
Acting on a tip off, the SOG team pounced on the gang at Chilla crossing in Govindpur locality around 3 am today. Two of the arrested racketeers Daya Shankar and Anurag are also pursuing their studies in the city and were living in a rented room in Govindpur.
Their interrogation revealed that it was Sitesh who had come with the question paper from Delhi on board a Sahara flight. Dayashankar had been entrusted with the responsibility of selling the papers in Allahabad. These were to be given to the aspirants before day break. Each aspirant was to give Rs 1.5 to 2 lakh per paper, paying half the amount before and the remaining once the question paper tallied with the examination questions.

cards from the students. This precaution was taken to ensure that nobody backed out from the deal after his work was accomplished.
The cheque of six lakh recovered from the possession of Anurag Raman is in the name of Dayashankar.
According to Sitesh, he had been given the question papers in Delhi by one Rakesh Singh who called himself a doctor. Both Rakesh and Sitesh originally belonged to Bihar but were staying in Delhi. Sitesh said, Rakesh had earlier also been involved in examination question paper leakage. In case the question paper had tallied with the one asked in the examination, Rakesh was to get Rs eight lakh, said Sitesh. Dayashankar had taken the help of a vegetable seller Gayadeen to contact aspiring candidates.
Cops were at it
If sources are to be believed some cops also made money taking advantage of the situation. They caught hold of those persons who had come from other districts along with their wards to help them appear in the examination through these racketeers. One such person quickly parted with a few lakhs to avoid his name getting public. After paying the money, he sped off in his car along with his son.
