Gang war claims one life

A CLASH between two gangs at the regional executive engineer?s office of Public Works Department (PWD) under Cantonment police station rocked the city on Tuesday. Satendra Singh (25) an active member of Vinod Upadhyay gang was killed on the spot while another member of the same group Repunju Rai sustained serious injuries. His condition is stated to be critical and had been referred to BRD Medical College.

A CLASH between two gangs at the regional executive engineer’s office of Public Works Department (PWD) under Cantonment police station rocked the city on Tuesday.

Satendra Singh (25) an active member of Vinod Upadhyay gang was killed on the spot while another member of the same group Repunju Rai sustained serious injuries. His condition is stated to be critical and had been referred to BRD Medical College.

The firing among the two gangs had once again exposed the negligence of Cantonment police, which had not made adequate arrangement of police force at PWD office where tender form was to be issue to carry out the road construction work worth several crores.

According to a report, the department had invited the tender to carry out the road construction and there was a tussle between Lal Bahadur Yadav alias Guddu Yadav group who also enjoy the support of former state minister and chairman of a corporation and Vinod Upadhyay group as both were in the bid to get the tender.

On Tuesday, members of Vinod Upadhyay gang led by student leaders Prabhaker Dwivedi accompanied with Satendra Singh and Repunju Rai reached the executive engineer office at 1 pm, as they enter in the office the unidentified armed miscreants who were said to be the members of Lal Bahadur Guddu Yadav group opened fire on Satendra Singh.

According to report, after killing Satendra Singh, the members of Lal Bahadur gang chased other members of Vinod Upadhyay group and opened fire on Repunju Rai who took shelter in the bathroom.

Meanwhile, the police force deployed on the spot remained mute spectator during the incident and the presence of a Samajwadi Party leader on the spot had raised various questions.

The members of Lal Bahadur group managed to flee from the scene in a blue Scorpio.

SSP Raja Srivastav along with other senior officials rushed to the spot after the incident and sent injured Repunju Rai to district hospital. Police took the body of the deceased Satendra Singh and recovered 315 bore riffle from his possession along with three live bullets.

Police claimed that Satyendra Singh who tried to counter the attack but failed.
Intensive checking of the vehicles started in the entire district to arrest the miscreants. Police had also recovered footwear of a miscreant from the incident point.

According to report Vinod Upadhyaya had snatched a tender of Rs 1.50 crore on gunpoint from the PWD officer but local police did not take the notice and their neglected attitude in duty resulted in clash between the two groups on Tuesday.
