Several peaceful protests were held in various parts of the city.

“Barricading the city is no solution. The government fears a mass movement,” said Manish Yadav, member of an NGO, The Youth. Carrying placards reading “Hang the Rapists”, members of the NGO along with the residents of DLF City Phase-2 took out a silent march from ABW Towers to Sahara Mall.

“A condolence meet will be held at 3.30pm at Sahara Mall on Sunday,” said Renu Pathak, a social worker.

As many as 50 residents of Sector 15 also took out a peaceful march from the area community centre to the deputy commissioner’s residence.

“We have given a memorandum to the deputy commissioner expressing our grief,” said Ramesh Vashisht, general secretary of the Residents Welfare Association of Sector 15.

As the outrage continued in Delhi, the police barricaded several roads, shutting down 10 Metro stations and stopping protesters from going towards India Gate.
