Gas victims to take protest to New Delhi

HUNDRED AND fifty gas victims will march on foot for New Delhi from February 20 to highlight their demand for justice and a life of dignity. The march led by a group of four NGOs working among the gas victims would also include people affected by groundwater contamination from Union Carbide plant.

HUNDRED AND fifty gas victims will march on foot for New Delhi from February 20 to highlight their demand for justice and a life of dignity. The march led by a group of four NGOs working among the gas victims would also include people affected by groundwater contamination from Union Carbide plant.

The Bhopal marchers expect to reach New Delhi in the last week of March when they have sought a meeting with the Prime Minister. Depending on the response of the Union Government the marchers may decide to go on an indefinite fast at the end of their 900-km long march.

The four NGOs in question – Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Stationary Karmachari Sangh, Bhopal Gas Peedit Mahila Purush Sangharsh Morcha, Bhopal Group for Action & Information and Bhopal Ki Awaaz have a six-point charter of demands to present to the Prime Minister.
