Singh is also the chairman of the Group of Central Ministers for Gas Relief-related issues. He is said to have assured a delegation led by Gupta that he would convene a high-level meeting within two days and make efforts at resolving the issue.

However, talking to the mediapersons earlier, Arjun Singh had mentioned that it is not within the purview of the Group of Ministers to intervene in this matter.

The letter by Babulal Gaur, urging Arjun Singh to intervene in the matter and get the hospital restarted at the earliest was handed over to the Union Minister by Umashankar Gupta, who himself submitted a separate memorandum making similar appeal.

Both Gaur and Gupta – who held the portfolio of Gas Relief and Rehabilitation minister till recently – mentioned that a stalemate exists between the management of the BMHRC and the employees owing to which the hospital has been closed down.

The delegation that met Singh also included chairman of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation Ramdayal Prajapati, district BJP president Surendranath Singh, leader of opposition in BMC Ashok Pandey, Alok Sharma, Alok Sanjar and Shyammohan Shrivastava.
