The former Indian captain, whose batting records against Pakistan are highly impressive, on Thursday revealed that dismissing the prolific Zaheer Abbas in a Test match in 1978 was his "most memorable" moment of an Indo-Pak series.

"Zaheer Abbas was batting on 96 when I dismissed him in the first Test of the series in 1978," Gavaskar told reporters.

Abbas, who had 176 in the first innings of the Test, played at Faisalabad, was caught by Chetan Chauhan.

Though the match ended in a draw, it gave the little master something to cherish for his whole life.

When asked whether he had his victim with a leg-spin, off-spin or a medium pace delivery, Gavaskar replied with a mischievious glint in his eyes, "Well, you can call it a leg-spin if you want."

The former opener played his last Test against the team from across the border in 1987, and, incidentally he was out for 96 in the final innings of his career.
