German team of teachers and students meets CM

A 15 member team of students, teachers and educational experts from Germany held discussions with Chief Minister V Vaithilingam on Thursday.

A 15 member team of students, teachers and educational experts from Germany held discussions with Chief Minister V Vaithilingam on Thursday.

The team, who are on a week long visit till November 14 had earlier held talks with Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University, J A K Tareen.

An official source told PTI that the Vice Chancellor made a powerpoint presentation highlighted the various courses available in the university, facilities for students and other academic activities.

The team also expressed the desire to have continued exchange programmes of students with Puducherry.

Secretary to Revenue and Tourism Choleti Prabhakar, Director of School Education S.Sundaravadivelou and a host of officials of the Directorate of Education were also present.

A source said the team's visit was a follow up of the cultural and educational trip some 20 students of the tsunami hit Government Girls high school made to Saarland region in Germany last year.

Team leader Brijit Spengler drew the Chief Minister's attention to the advantages of the educational system, particularly in the kindergarten division in Germany.
