Goa’s safety has been the subject of debate in the international media after 15-year-old British tourist Scarlette Keeling was found drugged, raped and murdered on south Goa’s Anjuna beach last month. The Goa police had initially tried to pass it off as a case of drowning.

In her complaint, the German tourist has stated that a man attacked her on an isolated beach stretch on Friday night in south Goa.

“The woman said that she was lying on the beach and enjoying the waves when a man held her hand and tried to pull her swim wear,” said investigating officer Edwin Calaco of the Colva police station.

“She started screaming and the man ran away,” he added. “As per the woman’s description, we have drawn a sketch and released it to all the police stations. We have already rounded up five persons with similar description,” added Calaco.
