Strawberries and cream
For this dish, seek out farm-fresh, organic berries to get the best results, and splash on full-fat cream for a decadent-yet-summery dessert. For a slightly lighter version, replace cream with fresh ricotta cheese.

Pimm’s
It’s known as the second unofficial drink of Britain after tea, and the quintessential Wimbledon cocktail. Mix one part Pimm’s No 1 with three parts lemon-flavoured soda, and garnish with mint, cucumber, orange and strawberries.

Smoked salmon
Smoked salmon, cream cheese or crème fraiche and dill between fluffy bread slices make for a hearty tea sandwich.

Cucumber sandwiches
Cliché but true — dainty little finger sandwiches made with thinly sliced cucumbers and soft, spongy slices of white bread are the perfect savoury summer snack for Wimbledon fans. Purists may balk at anything but good-quality butter to bind the ingredients, but other recipes allow for cream cheese and chives.

Strawberry Eton mess
Whip some full-fat cream, crumble either homemade or store-bought meringue cookies into a big bowl of strawberries and you’ve got a lovely summery mess in your hands.
