A 20-year-old man from Garh area of Ghaziabad was beheaded over an alleged love affair. His body was dumped in the Ganga Canal area near Meerut district of Western Uttar Pradesh, police officials said.
Monu Kumar was in love with Sneha Singh (19, name changed), who was from a higher caste, Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police, Raghubir Lal said. The girl's brother Sonu Singh was against the relationship and had had an altercation with the victim a year ago, the police said.
Kumar went missing on July 7 from Meerut. The call details of the victim revealed that he had last spoken to Sonu, who along with his friend Rajendra Kumar were arrested. Interrogations revealed that they killed Kumar on July 7 and dumped his beheaded body.
Search is on for the body, police officials said. “We have received request from Kumar’s family that the investigations be transferred to Ghaziabad,” Lal said.
