The chief minister was supposed to inaugurate this 2.57km-long Metro stretch on July 9.

“There may be a delay in the inauguration due to assignments of the chief minister. The inauguration date is likely to be shifted to some another date from the originally scheduled July 9. But we are yet to receive official communication about the future dates,” Ghaziabad Development Authority’s vice-chairman Narendra Kumar Chaudhary said.

In another development related to providing hassle-free commuting to Metro passengers once the line becomes
operational, the Ghaziabad administration on Wednesday held a meeting to discuss the issue of provision for feeder buses. The meeting was chaired by the district magistrate.

In the meeting, it was decided to allocate nearly Rs1.5 crore to the UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) for running 10 feeder buses on several routes. The routes, however, are yet to be finalised.

The issue of the provision for feeder buses had been pending with the agency for the past several weeks after the announcement of the inauguration of the two Metro stations—Kaushambi and Vaishali—in Ghaziabad.

“We have asked the UPSRTC to submit us quotations for the purchase of 10 feeder buses at the earliest,” Chaudhary added.
