The Indian team has placed itself in a very strong position at the end of the third day of what has turned out to be another absorbing game of cricket.

When was the last time Australia and India played a dull, listless Test match?
I was impressed with the way Mohammed Kaif and Parthiv Patel kept their heads and went about increasing the first-innings lead. The conditions were stifling, and they took their toll on Kaif, who might well have added to the lead had he not got dehydrated.
Then, there was Anil Kumble, who sent back the Australian openers as well as the danger-man Adam Gilchrist.
Gilchrist's fall in the closing stages of the day was a big setback for the touring side. He has exploded in similar situations in the last and played heroic match-winning knocks, and as long as he was there, the Australians could fancy their chances of demoralising the Indians and setting an impossible target in the fourth innings.
His dismissal was a timely one from the Indian point of view.
