A 16-year-old girl died while another boy was seriously injured after a speeding van hit them near the Sector 4/5 roundabout on Tuesday.
The two children were on their way to school.
The driver of the Maruti Eeco mini van, identified as Sanjeev Bakshi, is an accountant with Bristol Hotel in Gurgaon.
He also owns the vehicle. Bakshi was arrested from the spot and a case of rash and negligent driving causing death has been registered against him. The accused will be produced in a Gurgaon court on Wednesday.
Deceased Preeti Negi was a student of Class 11 at Jeevan Jyoti School in Sector 4. Her family was out of town as they had gone to attend a wedding function.
She was rushed to Artemis Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, injured Deepak Singh, 16, is a student of Class 10 in a government school. He was taken to Sheetla Hospital.
Jaswant Singh, father of the boy, said, "My son was going to school with his friends when the accident took place. He has got three stitches on the head and three on his knees. The van's tyres rolled over his chest and he escaped death by a whisker."

The accused used the van as a taxi. On Monday night, the vehicle was parked in one of Bakshi's friend's house. As the driver did not turn up in the morning, Bakshi had gone to fetch the car.
Around 7:40am, while taking a turn towards Sector 4, the van hit an Alto car parked on the roadside.
Instead of applying the brakes, the accused pushed the accelerator in a bid to control the vehicle. The car then crushed the two students but the girl could not survive.
