The state Health Department official said the girl had cold and cough after her return from Michigan on June 14 and was quarantined for the past three days at the civil hospital of Himmatnagar, the headquarters of Sabarkantha district, about 80 km from Gandhinagar.

Her blood samples have been sent to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases in New Delhi for examination, he said.

There is no cause for panic in Gujarat as all necessary precautions are being taken to detect any suspected swine flu cases in airports and across the state, he said.

The girl's parents have no symptoms of swine flu but they too have been quarantined as a precautionary measure, the official added.
