The girl, a student of a private school in Ghaziabad, had alleged that her father, who is employed with the police in Noida, had tried molesting her for the past 5-6 years and had been pressurising her into a sexual relationship with him. The police had lodged an FIR on her complaint.

One of the family members, who approached the Kavi Nagar police on Saturday, claimed the girl had filed her complaint "in anger". The family now wishes to withdraw the complaint. However, Kavi Nagar station officer Sudhir Tyagi told them that some more charges under sections of the Indian Penal Code could be included in the FIR.

Senior superintendent of police Prashant Kumar told this correspondent that affidavits or applications pleading withdrawal of the complaint would be handed over to the court along with other case reports.

The father of the girl is yet to be arrested.

In her complaint, the girl had asked for police protection. Later, two security personnel, including a woman constable, were deputed for her security. Her family members on Saturday also demanded that the security cover be removed.
