EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with the State government over the removal of her husband Yashpal Singh from the DGP’s chair, SP MLA Gita Singh is likely to switch over to the BSP in search for greener pastures.
Talking to Hindustan Times on Wednesday, Gita Singh, known as a rabble-rouser in the ruling party, said she had kept “all options open”. “I have never been a person of fixed ideas”, she said. Since the SP equations in Gonda-Balrampur are quite fluid, she appears to have no way out but to react to the changing situation. SP MP from Balrampur Brijbhushan Saran Singh has already planned to join the BSP. His wife Ketki Singh had joined the blue brigade last year. Referring to the prevailing situation in the SP, Gita Singh said, “Agar sare raste band ho jain” (if all the doors are closed), options would have to be searched. She said there was no “haisiyat” (authority) of an MLA in SP.
Apprehending threat to her life under the present police dispensation, Gita Singh said there was no positive response about her security from the State government. However police sources said she had two gunners for her security.

Not ready to forget unceremonious departure of her husband from the DGP’s post, Gita Singh said she was not ready to be a puppet in the party.
Reiterating her claim over the controversial PAC bungalow in Gonda, she said the government had not done justice with her. Gita Singh had made abortive attempt to forcibly capture the bungalow on December 24, when her husband was the DGP. However, she was then persuaded to vacate the premises.
The case is now pending in the High Court. Gita Singh said there was no hope from the government on the issue. In fact her fate in the SP was sealed with the bungalow controversy, as Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had not taken the issue kindly. The party now doesn’t have favorable feedback about her from Balrampur. Thus she also doesn’t have much time to change colour.
