Monsoon is at it’s peak, and so is the gloom in the air. While the outdoors is lush green, the interiors of our homes often are depressing. Don’t let the dull weather spoil your mood, instead usher cheer into your pad by throwing in a dash of vibrancy with bright colours and accessories. “Make the most of the weather by letting in the breeze and the natural light. Ditch heavy curtains as they block the light, go for light-weight sheer and lace drapes,” says interior designer Poonam Kalra. Add colours to your homes with accessories like bright cushions, rugs, ceramic vases and planters, funky colourful wall clocks, and pretty lamps, say decor experts.

>“Orange, red, yellow, fuschia and similar warm colours are shades to swear by. Even for your bedroom, bright bedspreads and quilts will add to the charm,” says interior designer Dimple Kohli of Qboid Design House.

Kill the damp smell

Due to the humidity in the air, homes often have a damp smell. While you could go for the various fragrant air freshners, diffusers, and incense sticks for an instant mood lift, placing fresh flowers such as champa,

and veli in an urli is also a great way to bring in natural fragrances.

Air freshners may come in handy to beat the damp smell at home
