Giving away power

We try to please others because our happiness seems to depend on whether they are happy with us or not.

This world of ours has set out so many rules and regulations to live by, and imposes so many conditions for being called a responsible and loved member of society, that we have become trained zombies in the art of giving away our power to the world to tell us what we are actually worth.

Whether we consciously believe this statement or not, the smallest example of its veracity will suffice to show us the power that we have within ourselves to know ourselves at the reality level. A reality check can go something like this…..

We enter our office in the morning, and first person we meet says to us, "What an incredibly beautiful shade of blue you are wearing!".  This sets the emotional tone for the day for us and we find ourselves feeling on top of the world. On the other hand, if we hear a remark that our hair is in a real sorry mess, (when actually we know it is not so bad), we keep looking at our hair in every reflection we can, to check out the truth of this horrible statement.

We are constantly trying to please the world, for our own happiness seems to depend on whether our family/parents/friends/peers/office colleagues/clients are happy with us. We see in their moods and tone of voice the reflection of what seems to be reality for us. It is time for the New Age Human to grow into his own power, obliterate all these reflections, and create his own reality of his self worth. Looking inwards for truth checks must become the norm, for it is only our own hearts that can take us to that place within us, where we are true children of God, pure and beautiful and fine, however much society might like to disagree.
