“A decision is likely to evolve on the Telangana issue on January 28. The GJM Delhi and Haryana units will sit in a dharna at Jantar Mantar from January 27,” GJM general secretary Roshan Giri said at a rally in Kalimpong on Thursday.

“Members of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) will join the dharna along with the three hill MLAs. GJM leaders will also start hunger strikes in New Delhi.”

The GJM is timing its agitation on the basis of Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde’s announcement on December 28 last year that the Centre would take a decision on the Telangana issue within a month.

The Centre, however, has indicated that the one-month (deadline) should not be taken so literally.
