West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi on Tuesday took over additional charge as the Governor of Bihar.

He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Chief Justice of Patna High Court, JN Bhat, in a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhavan on Tuesday morning.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, state assembly Speaker Udai Narain Chaudhary, chairman of legislative council Jabir Hussain, several state ministers and top officials attended the oath-taking ceremony.

Gandhi, the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, was given the additional charge of Bihar after the resignation of Governor Buta Singh on January 26 in the wake of his indictment by the Supreme Court for his role in the controversial dissolution of the state assembly.
