THE DISCIPLINARY committee of the Gandhi Medical College (GMC) held long running discussions on Tuesday to mull the suggestions made by the anti-ragging sub-committee that submitted its report to the dean Dr M K Saraswat.
However, no decisions were made and the meeting is expected to continue on Wednesday. Several suggestions have been put forth by the anti-ragging sub-committee inclusive of restructuring of hostel placements for students and re-introducing bus services for day scholar students.
The committee has also reportedly suggested that the degree completion certificate of students involved in ragging be held back so that they were not able to go into internship. Students should be made to give affidavit to this respect, the committee has suggested. Posting of assistant wardens by rotation has also been suggested.
Suggestions have been made after discussions with parents and senior teachers. The anti-ragging sub-committee was asked to come out with suggestions on better prevention of ragging in college after recent violent incidents. The disciplinary committee will be discussing the suggestions in details before coming with final policy decisions.
