QUIZZING THE spontaneous and innate intellect, the three-day national quiz fest— Gnosiomania-06 began at the MP Hall complex of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) on Friday evening.
The fest was formally inaugurated by the officiating director of MNNIT Prof BD Chaudhary.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Chaudhary said quizzing is a unique mental process of unveiling the truth from the obscurity of ignorance. Appreciating the role of the students for conceptualising the whole event and bringing it to the reality, Prof Chaudhary said that students have shown their devotion and sincerity in letter and spirit.President of MNNIT Student Activity Centre Prof Rakesh Narain in his welcome address said that the whole event of Gnosiomania was being organised by the students and the event has received tremendous response from the students of other institutions.
Later, a panel discussion on ‘India Rising’ was also held at MP Hall on the occasion. The elite panel comprised MNNIT director Prof AB Samaddar, Vice-chancellor of Allahabad University Prof Rajen Govind Harshe, director of Harish Chandra Research Institute Prof Amitabh Ray Chaudhary, PK Tiwari, senior copy editor, Hindustan Times and Aveek Mukherjee, chief technology advisor, ANZ Technologies.
It may be mentioned that MNNIT students have already launched the online quizzing through their indigenously designed website as a run up to the fest. So far, students from reputed institutes like IIT-Khargpur, IIT-Delhi, NSIT, Delhi, Birla Institute of Technology (BITS), Ranchi, BHU-IT, Varanasi, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Motilal Nehru Institute of Research and Business Administration (MONIRBA), AU have assured their participation. Apart from these institutions, several local engineering colleges will also participate in the event.

{{/usCountry}}The three-day long event has sub-events like password, auto quiz, sportainment, whose lie is it, cultural nite, science and technology quiz, dumb charades, motley corporate quiz, general quiz. Famous quiz master Dhananjay Shettigar, UTI, Mumbai and Bishwabijoy, TCS Kolkata will conduct the quizzes.The quiz as its nomenclature refers will be based on the selected topics.
Similarly, the event Dumb charades will showcase the grasping power of the students on a given situation. The closing ceremony of the fest will be held on March 5. Senior journalist VS Dutta will be chief guest on the occasion.
