The father of a rape victim has condemned the Goa government for not granting him permission to hold a public meeting on Monday to protest against the police's inability to nab the culprit even after three months of the incident.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the victim's father and his lawyer said the authorities' decision not to grant permission to organise the meeting was "very autocratic and absolutely unwarranted".
"The public meeting on April 15 was being organised to highlight that the Goa Police has failed to nab the rapist even after three months have elapsed," the father said.
The authorities, however, claimed that the meeting was cancelled after a complaint was filed by the principal of the school where the rape took place.
On Jan 14, the minor girl was raped by an unidentified person in the toilet of a school in Goa's Vasco town.
The principal of the school as well as other employees delayed informing the police about the incident and spent the intermittent time bathing the victim and washing the toilet where she was raped.
Although the principal and several other employees were arrested by the police for negligence and destruction of evidence, the rapist has not been identified yet.
