According to local bullion market sources, the price of gold, which was around Rs 850 to 855 per gram, went up to Rs 870 today. A gold biscuit (100 gm) recorded Rs 1,00,200. “Never before gold biscuit touched Rs 1 lakh mark,” said Navneet Agarwal, a jeweller at Sarafa Bazaar.

Similarly, the price of silver, which was hovering at Rs 16,500 per kg went up to Rs 17,800 per kg. The hike in prices of two precious metals is attributed to the hike in precious metals price in the international market today.

“Today silver touched 1200 cent – an all-time high. It was due to the fact that the US for the first time allowed its funds to invest in silver trading and also due to use of silver in Dubai’s electronics’ market,” a source mentioned.
