The Group of Ministers (GoM), constituted by the prime minister in the aftermath of the sealing drive in the city, on Tuesday approved the draft proposal of the Master Plan-2021.
It was also decided that a Cabinet note on regularisation of more than 1500 unauthorised colonies would be ready in the next 15 days from now.
The GoM believes that the proposals are trader friendly and would help tackle the unrest of the traders and the public at large after the court ordered drive.
Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy and his deputy Ajay Maken gave a lengthy presentation on MPD to the GoM headed by Shivraj Patil and consisting of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, amongst others. The meeting, which lasted for over two hours, also clarified certain queries put forward by the members of the GoM.
After the marathon presentation, Maken said: "A Cabinet note on regularisation of the unauthorised colonies would be ready in 15 days. We hope to pass it soon". The minister of state, closely involved in the entire exercise, said the MPD too would be notified in the next 15 days.
The GoM also authorised the UDM to make any last minute changes in the draft MPD proposal, if required. It was not immediately known how many of the 119 proposals made by the Delhi government has been incorporated in the MPD. Dikshit was pressing for the incorporation of as many points as possible due to political compulsions in the city.

{{/usCountry}}Reacting to the MPD, Dikshit told HT: "This was a complex problem. But several short term and long term measures have been adopted to give relief to the people who had to face hardships in the recent past".
She hoped the MPD would address the needs of the people, the city and also the endeavour of the government in making Delhi a world-class city.
Several recommendations of the Delhi government have not been included in the draft MPD. Some of these are liberal mixed land use in the category A and B colonies, removing the green belt concept to permit motels and IT industry etc.
However Dikshit's suggestion of the use of GIS mapping in the preparation of the zonal plans was accepted.
