Kudos to the British police and intelligence agencies for the swift and timely action that thwarted a huge terror attack. The efficient intelligence and security measures taken by the agencies is commendable. The professionalism displayed without any pomposity is remarkable. There are lessons to be learnt for Indian authorities.

Review Pakistan

US president George Bush should note that until and unless the US acknowledges that Pakistan is the hub of terrorism, terror outfits will prosper. Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf must be pressured to stop harbouring terrorists.

Making a quick buck

Apropos of the report Nursery admissions: School challenges SC ban (August 11), interviews for children or parents are needed only to authenticate ‘influence’ and ‘donation’ being made to the school. Kids at the nursery level can’t be measured for aptitude or learning abilities. The CBSE should set a test for Class V and all students should be readmitted on the basis of merit to Class VI. At least, then, there will be some realistic form of measure.

Vote for coconut water

The Kerala government’s decision to shut down cola companies is a short-sighted move. Kerala has been promoting coconut water in a bid to depopularise colas. It was a good proactive move.
