Google Doodle pays tribute to India’s ‘Milkman’ Verghese Kurien

Google on Thursday celebrated the 94th birth anniversary of Verghese Kurien, the ‘Milkman of India’, with a doodle. He is also known as the Father of White Revolution.

The tribute on the website’s India homepage shows Kurien sitting beside a buffalo with a milk pail in hand and a rope coiled on the ground to spell Google.

As the architect of White Revolution, Kurien is considered one of the champions of farmers’ cooperative movements and established institutions such as the Amul brand of dairy products.

Kurien’s work was instrumental in transforming India from a milk-deficient country to one of the largest producers in the world.

Kurien died on September 09, 2012, in Nadiad, near Anand at the age of 90.
