Governor directs afforestation drive along Vaishno Devi Yatra route

Governor NN Vohra, who is also the chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), on Saturday reviewed the developmental activities of its forest wing.

SMVDSB's chief executive officer Ajeet K Sahu and additional CEO B Mohan Dass briefed the governor about the status of fire management plan, fire lines creation and production of quality planting materials.

The governor was informed that till date 14 fire observation posts had been activated and against a target of 25 km, 16.25 km of fire lines have been created in six fire sensitive sectors in the Trikuta Hills.

The governor also reviewed the functioning of the poly-green houses established at Board's Kunia-Panthal nursery and directed the additional CEO to plant more flowering shrubs and creepers to improve the ambience along the entire yatra route.
