Governor to present Sahitya Akademi awards

GOVERNOR DR Balram Jakhar will give away M P Sahitya Akademi awards to writers for excellence in their respective fields of writings for the year 1998-2000 and 2001-02 at a function in Bharat Bhavan on July 15. Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma will preside over the award ceremony.

National awards of Rs 11000 each for the year 1998-2000 will be conferred on Alok Dhanva (Bhavani Prasad Mishra award), Chitra Mudgal (Virsingh Dev award), Ramakant Shrivastava (Gajanan Madhav Muktibodh award), Arvind Tripathi (Acharya Ramchandra Shukla award) and Ravindra Kaliya (Padumlal Punnalal Bakshi award).

Nine State awards of Rs 7000 each for the year will be conferred on Om Bharti (Pt Makhanlal Chaturvedi award), Mahesh Katare (Subhadrakumari Chauhan award), Satyen Kumar (Vishvanath Pratap Singh award), late Dr Malam Singh (Acharya Nanddulare Vajpayee award), Dr Ramkrishna Saraf (Mukutdhar Pandey award), Pawan Karan (Ramvilas Sharma award), Sanjay Sham (Dusyant Kumar award), Santosh Khare (Sharad Joshi award), Malti Basant (Ravishankar Shukla award).

Awards for the year 2001-02 will also be conferred the same evening. Recipients include Ashutosh Dubey (Pt Makhanlal Chaturvedi award), Jitendra Bhatia (Virsingh Deo award), Dr Punni Singh (Gajanan Madhav Muktibodh award) and Dr Rajendra Mishra (Acharya Ramchandra Shukla award).

On the subsequent day, there will be two sessions of literary discussions. The first session is titled ‘Kuch Bat Hai Ki Hasti Mitti Nahin Hamari’.

Thinker and scholar Dr Govind Chand Pandey will preside over the session, while Rameshwar Mishra ‘Pankaj’ will conduct the programme. Writers having received the awards will discuss relevant issues during the programme.

Similarly, second session titled ‘Hindi Hain Hum, Vatan Hain Hindustan Hamara’ will be conducted by Dr Sriram Parihar, while eminent writer Dr Ramesh Chandra Shah will preside.
