Sources said the state government had planned to organise entrance test for B. Ed at state level. The entrance test for the B. Ed to be organised by UP Self-financed Teachers’ Training College Association has been declared illegal. The entrance test was proposed on December 17.

According to a report, the admission in B. Ed under self-finance scheme was flourishing like a business and educational shops were running to provide the degree. Government received complaints regarding it and on November 29, the principal secretary for higher education Rajiv Kumar convened a meeting of all the registrars and discussed the complaint.

Later, he issued a circular to all the universities in this regard. According to the circular, the state government has taken the decision in light of the Supreme Court’s decision in PA Inamdar Case and ordered to cancel all the admission taken under managerial quota. He even said that violation of this order would pave the way for cancellation of the affiliation of degree colleges.

Rajiv Kumar said that association had not taken the permission for conducting such entrance test. He directed all the principals and managers of the colleges to stay away from this entrance examination.

Similarly, in Government Order no 4353/Sattar-2006-3 (58)/79TC) it has been said that entrance test for admission in B. Ed would be organised at state level for the session 2007-08. The circular has put the self-financed college officials in a tight spot.
