In an obvious measure to check copying in high school and intermediate examinations commencing from March 4, the State Government on Tuesday decided to deploy sector magistrates, videograph sensitive examination centres and invoke the Anti-Copying Act-1998 in the State.
Chief Secretary R Ramanai made this announcement while talking to mediapersons after presiding over a meeting of divisional commissioners here today. The Chief Secretary had convened the meeting to discuss the arrangements being made for high school and intermediate examinations which will end on April 5 and 10 respectively.
Ramani said the students would not be allowed to take cellular phones and pagers inside examination centres. He said directives had been issued not to place more than 10 to 12 examination centres under the supervision of sector magistrates. Officers of the rank of sub-divisional magistrate, city magistrate and deputy collector would be deployed as sector magistrates, he said.
On the other hand, 11 officers of the education department of additional director, joint director and deputy director rank had been deployed for holding inspections during the examinations, he said. At the same time, the district magistrates and the divisional commissioners had been asked to supervise arrangements to hold fair examinations, he said.
In case of reports of mass copying, the officials had been asked to immediately contact the Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education and take appropriate action that may include cancellation of the examination or changing the question paper, he said. In all 44.38 lakh students would take the examination at 7814 examination centres, he said. This would include 27.96 lakh appearing for high school and 16.42 lakh for intermediate examination.
