The chief minister while unveiling the statue of Maharaja Agrasen here said that historians had not been fair to these communities. They had done injustice with the Agarwal community as they had completely ignored the contribution of Maharaja Agrasen to the country. Yadav said the Samajwadi party had always honoured traders, farmers and Muslims and given them adequate political representation. He pointed out that trading community leaders Banwari Lal Kanchal and Mahendra Mohan had been elected to the Rajya Sabha.

The chief minister called upon historians to include the work of Maharaja Agrasen in the History books. Yadav said that the government had declared holiday on Agrasen Jayanti not for votes but to create awareness about Maharaja Agrasen.

Assuring full security to trading community, the chief minister said criminals would be dealt with firmly.
