The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday vehemently denied the allegation of opposition leader and former Chief Minister N Chandrabbu Naidu that his telephone was being tapped.
"There was no need for the government to tap the phone of any leader in the state and the allegation is absolutely unfounded," Home Minister K Jana Reddy said.
Reddy said the government is ready for an inquiry if any evidence of phone tapping was provided by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader.
Naidu after a meeting with Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, who called on the former here, alleged his telephone too was being tapped and demanded an impartial inquiry into the entire issue.
Earlier, Amar Singh alleged his phone was being tapped at the behest of the Congress President Sonia Gandhi, a charge dismissed by the Central government as "baseless".
