LEADER OF Opposition in the State Assembly Jamuna Devi reiterated on Wednesday that the State Government had grossly mismanaged storage and distribution of fertilisers and was now manipulating ‘facts’ to escape the blame for urea crisis in the State.
Referring to written reply of Agriculture Minister Chaudhary Chandrabhan Singh in the State Assembly, she said that the Minister had admitted that a total of 2,12,604 metric tonne of fertiliser was provided to MP in the month of October. In addition to this, the State Government had not been able to sell 92,755 metric tonne of fertilisers available with it during the kharif season.
The Minister had further admitted that 68,607 metric tonne of fertilisers was left unsold with the State from October 1 to 21. The Minister had further said that there was no fertiliser crisis in the State.
The facts as stated by the Agriculture Minister on the floor of the House amply prove that fertiliser crisis in the State was created by failure of the State Government to properly assess the requirement of fertilisers and accordingly ensure their storage and distribution.
Jamuna Devi further said that Union Fertiliser Minister Ramvilas Paswan had assured her that the Central Government was ready to supply fertilisers to MP as much as it required but the BJP Government itself seemed interested in fertiliser crisis to persist.

{{/usCountry}}She said that on the one hand fertiliser crisis would allow the BJP-supporting trader community to sell the commodity in black market and on the other it would enable the State Government to find excuse for its inability to provide power to farmers for irrigation in the garb of fertiliser crisis, for which it seeks to put the blame on Centre.
