“I wonder how the Union Health Minister ignored the set norms and recommended the tests of samples of ayurvedic medicines presented by Karat,” Mishra told HT. He lashed out at Karat for her attempts to defame ayurveda for vested interest.

He said the citizens would foil Karat’s “nefarious” designs, as they wanted the ayurvedic system of medicine to flourish.

Earlier, speaking as chief guest at a seminar at Sampurnanand Sanskrit University on Saturday, Mishra expressed concern over the poor state of Sanskrit language.

The seminar was organised to celebrate the birth anniversary of SSU founder Dr Sampurnanand.

Mishra has called upon the students and teachers to initiate a cultural and democratic movement to establish the pride of Sanskrit language in the country.

Sanskrit was gaining popularity in foreign countries, but not in India, he said.
Highlighted the contribution of Dr Sampurnanand, Mishra said his role in promoting Sanskrit and Indian culture was unmatched.

Presiding over the function, SSU vice-chancellor Prof Ashok Kallia also threw light on the contributions of Dr Sampurnanand.

BJP MLA Ajay Rai was the special guest on the occasion.
