Govt mulls making Sanskrit compulsory

STATE GOVERNMENT is contemplating making Sanskrit compulsory from Class I till XII. The MP Sanskrit Board will be sending a proposal in this regard to the school education department soon. This decision was taken in a meeting of the board held on Monday.

STATE GOVERNMENT is contemplating making Sanskrit compulsory from Class I till XII. The MP Sanskrit Board will be sending a proposal in this regard to the school education department soon. This decision was taken in a meeting of the board held on Monday.

In the meeting chaired by School Education Minister Dr Narottam Mishra, it was also decided that Sanskrit schools will be exempted from payment of security amount while seeking recognition from Sanskrit Board. Besides, existing Government Sanskrit schools located in the declared holy towns of the State will be upgraded to the Uttar Madhyama level.

Minister of State for School Education, Paras Chandra Jain, Vice-Chairman Madhya Pradesh Sanskrit Board, Dr Manmohan Upadhyaya, Principal Secretary, School Education, Indraneel Shankar Dani, Commissioner, Rajya Shiksha Kendra, MK Singh, Commissioner, Public Instructions, LS Baghel, Director, Public Instructions, JC Bhatt, Joint Director, KK Pandey, Secretary, Sanskrit Board, Sanjay Patwa, principals and all district education officers participated in the meeting. A number of important decisions were taken at the meeting.

Minister of State for School Education, Paras Chandra Jain gave detailed information about the proposed Sanskrit University to be set up in Ujjain.

He declared all Government Sanskrit schools would be strengthened in order to re-establish the identity of Sanskrit in Madhya Pradesh.
