Govt not tackling JE properly: Yogi

LAMBASTING THE State government for its insensitive attitude in tackling the killer Japanese Encephalitis (JE), BJP MP Yogi Adityanath said here that mere vaccination couldn?t check the reoccurrence of the killer disease. After visiting BRD Medical College, Adityanath criticised the government for only making lip service to establish research centre at the medical college and equip it for the treatment of JE patients.

LAMBASTING THE State government for its insensitive attitude in tackling the killer Japanese Encephalitis (JE), BJP MP Yogi Adityanath said here that mere vaccination couldn’t check the reoccurrence of the killer disease. After visiting BRD Medical College, Adityanath criticised the government for only making lip service to establish research centre at the medical college and equip it for the treatment of JE patients.

He said no fogging or spray had been started so far and the State government was transferring medical college teachers to Saifai. Yogi also criticised that Jal Kal employees for supplying contaminated water in various localities as a result of which people in Shahpur, Basharatpur and other localities were suffering from jaundice.

Meanwhile, reports of suspected JE mounted pressure on BRD medical college authorities. So far no proper steps had been taken by the authorities to provide better medical facilities to JE patients. In the last three months 71 patients were admitted here for treatment. Out of them 10 succumbed to the disease.

According to reports, patients were coming from Kushinagar, Gorakhpur and some parts of Bihar. Eleven patients in the children’s ward of medical the college were reported to be in critical condition. Even the doctors were amazed at the early reported cases. According to medical college report, between April 1 to June 30, 15 patients were brought here from Bihar and 16 each from Kushinagar and Gorakhpur district.
