Talking to reporters after visiting the blast site at Sankat Mochan and Cantonment besides the injured admitted in different hospitals, Raj Babbar had a word of praise for the people of Varanasi for maintaining communal harmony in the town despite the grave provocation.

He expressed concern over the absence of senior officers like SSP, SP city and DM in Varanasi when the twin blasts occurred at Sankat Mochan Temple and Cantonment Railway Station. He said that it was the responsibility of state government to ensure proper security of life and property of the common people.

Babbar said that members of the Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian communities were living in a peaceful manner and no terrorist act could disturb harmony.

He said the terrorist wanted to spread terror and spark off communal tension by blasting bombs but it was the people of Varanasi who foiled the efforts.

He said that it was not an adequate time to indulge in dirty politics. Without naming BJP, Raj Babbar said that people were much aware now and no ‘Rathyatra or Rickshaw Yatra’ could misguide them.
