Replying to a written question, Minister of State for Home Manikrao Gavit said the Sarkaria Commission was constituted by the Union Government in 1983 to look into the issue of Centre-State relations.

Keeping in view the sea changes that have taken place in the polity and economy of the country since then, the Union Government is committed to setting up of a new Commission to look into the issues relating to Centre-State relations.
