THE STATE Government, it seems, has finally woken up as far as the city’s master plan is concerned. The KDA master plan was sent to the State government for its nod in 2001 following approval by the KDA board. A committee set up to see any anomalies or lapses in the plan visited the KDA here today. The four-member committee which included chief town country planner NR Verma, and two ex-chief town country planners JP Bhargava and NH Tyagi along with Awas Bandhu advisor PC Mehrotra held a meeting with various department heads to discuss the master plan-2021.

Barring mainly the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC), all other departments expressed satisfaction over the plan. UPSIDC’s industrial development new schemes were not incorporated in the plan.

The members of the committee assured the UPSIDC officials that the same would be incorporated in the plan. Besides, few anomalies with regards to mapping of several villages were also detected by the committee members. The KDA officials assured the committee members of rectifying the same.

However, officials from railways, traffic department and UPSRTC remained absent from the meeting much to annoyance of the committee members.

KDA officials said the master plan was not expected to be approved soon as the committee’s report in this regard would itself be submitted to the State Government by the end of this month.

It was in 2001 that the KDA board passed the master plan and sent it to the State Government for its nod. However, the nod was still awaited even after the lapse of over five years.
