Now more central government ministries and departments are seeking suggestions and creative inputs from the aam admi after Prime Minister Narendra Modi made public participation a key to his administration’s functioning. The Centre’s mygov.in, the dedicated portal for public-government interface, is flooded with invitations seeking ideas from citizens.
Modi had also recently invited ideas and talking points from people for his debut programme on the All India Radio, to be aired on October 3.
Among the initiatives that have been put up seeking public response are a song for the flagship Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, and a logo and tagline for the National Land Records Modernization Programme.
Insiders have pointed out that the name and logo for the Jan Dhan Yojana, the government’s first flagship scheme, was decided through public participation.
The government also asked the public their opinion on revamping the Planning Commission, and has sought views on key issues such as how to leverage the Indian post office network and how to use mobile phones for digital identity.
