Taking a dig at Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, Dharamvir Goyat, Congress campaign committee in charge and spokesperson for the District Congress Committee (DCC) here on Monday said that the Sunday's ex-servicemen rally in Rewari was nothing more than a show of oratory.
Addressing mediapersons, Goyat said: "The Rewari rally was organised in the name of ex-servicemen but actually it was rally of BJP workers and only a few former army officers were sitting on the stage."
He said: "Modi had admired Bansi Lal in his address but when he (Modi) was in charge of the Haryana BJP in 1999, he had engineered the fall of his (Bansi's) government and was responsible for ousting him. Modi's action and speech differed inter alia."
The Congress leader said: "In the Kargil war, 527 jawans of the nation were killed due to the wrong policies of the NDA government. BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee was busy in bus politics with the Pakistan government, while the latter was thrusting in intruders at our borders."
Lashing out at the NDA, he said that during its five-year rule, the NDA government did not take even a single step to adopt or implement any welfare policy for the ex-servicemen.

{{/usCountry}}"Today, the BJP is talking about the problems of farmers, but when it was in power the farmers were totally ignored," Goyat said.
Talking about Modi's speech, he said: "Modi mentioned the war of 1962, but deliberately skipped wars of 1965 and 1971 because these wars spoke high of Indira Gandhi's acumen and mettle. People cannot be misled with baseless statements. The Congress is going to make hat-trick of power in Haryana and at the Centre."
