USP: Takeaway joint with kebabs, rolls, snacks and packed lunches on its menu that offers value for money meals
Those who spend hours at their workplaces understand the importance of cheap restaurants and takeaways that offer decent food and don’t leave too deep a hole in their wallets. Tawa Hut, located in the busy business district of Tardeo, with its set packed lunches (vegetarian and non-vegetarian), kebabs, rolls and snacks is yet another takeaway option for working folks in south Mumbai.
The joint claims to offer 100 different types of dishes, and unlike past experiences at similar spots, nothing we ordered was “not on the menu or unavailable”. And even though we ordered for the Paneer Malai Seekh (R140), which was good, we did wish there was some attention paid to detail in terms of the spellings (it is listed as Panner Malai Seekh on the menu).
Also, though we accept that grease is an intrinsic part of Indian cuisine, especially if the dishes originate from north India, floating oil is a big turn off. So while the Mushroom Bhoona Masala (R130) and Chicken Tikka Tawa Masala (R165) did appeal to our taste buds, we also might have cut our life span by a few days by consuming all that fat. The Veg Tawa Pulao (R100) as well as the gravies were served in decent quantities too.
